PASTOR DANIEL CHINEN | LEAD PASTOR

Pastor Daniel has been a pastor at MGMC since 2007, after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Trinity Western University. As the son of Pastor Cal, Pastor Daniel was born and raised at MGMC, and from his high school years, he felt a calling to ministry. He is very involved in ministry on many of the Oahu college campuses and especially at the University of Hawaii at Manoa with the UHCM (UH Campus Ministries). Pastor Daniel has been blessed with a beautiful wife, Erin since 2008, and they have three awesome kids who never make life boring—Caleb (born 2010), Alexa (born 2013) and Ben (born 2019).

You can find Pastor Daniel surfing at Kewalo’s, hiking, working out, reading, watching movies, and listening to music and sermon podcasts. His heart’s prayer for his life is to fully live as a true son of God fulfilling the calling He has for his life. Pastor Daniel longs to see the Spirit of God move across all generations and ethnicities of people over Hawaii that it erupts and expands to touch the nations of the world.

PASTOR RON YOSHIDA | WORSHIP & SENIOR ADULTS PASTOR

Pastor Ron has been a part of MGMC since 1989 and on the pastoral staff since 2000. He grew up in Kaneohe, Hawaii then got his undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Pastor Ron is the Worship Pastor as well as the Community and Visitation Pastor, which includes funeral services.

He and his wife Dona have been married since 1994 and he has 4 children and 1 beloved dog. He enjoys going on dates with his wife, hanging out with his family, rock-n-roll music, cooking, golfing, fishing, and Elvis Presley.

Pastor Ron’s prayer is to see Hawaii transformed by becoming the first Christian state and for all the people of Hawaii to be transformed by coming into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

PASTOR MARION LOGAN | YOUNG PROFESSIONALS PASTOR

Marion Logan has been in Hawaii doing full-time ministry for over 16 years and currently serves as an Associate Pastor at Moanalua Gardens Missionary Church (MGMC) where he leads the Young Professional (YoPro) Ministry and serves as the Director of Christian Education. A native Texan—he came to Hawaii with a dream to minister to young adults, live in a multi-cultural environment, and be close to the ocean. While working as a full-time Young Adults Pastor at another awesome church, he met the love of his life—Charis. Marion graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in Communication, a M.Ed. from UH-Manoa, and most recently obtained a M.Div. at Regent University. He currently serves as a Captain in the Air Force Reserves as an IMA Chaplain, having completed Officer Training School and Basic Chaplain Course Summer 2020.

Marion married Charis in 2011 and they have two boys—Judah (born in April 2014) and Landry (born in April 2016). He is a proud husband and father with a desire to see his family collectively live out God’s destiny. For fun, Marion enjoys being with family, school work, working out, surfing, being with friends, and checking out the latest coolest restaurants.

Pastor Marion’s greatest desire is seeing God work in peoples’ lives bringing them faith, hope, and love. God’s best is available to all of us who trust Him! He is most passionate to see people experience the transformative power of God—heart, soul, and mind.

PASTOR CHARIS LOGAN | CHILDREN’S PASTOR/ASSISTANT PASTOR

Pastor Charis has been a part of the MGMC Staff since 2004. She started out as a part-time Middle School Director then became the full-time Youth Pastor in 2006. She is now the Children's Pastor and oversees the marketing for the church. She also partners with her husband Marion in the Young Professionals Ministry (YoPros).

Pastor Charis graduated from Trinity Western University with her undergraduate degree in Social Sciences. She grew up at MGMC and enjoyed life as a pastor’s kid (Pastor Cal is her father), and thoroughly enjoys her job with her dad as her boss.

She and her husband Pastor Marion were married in 2011 and lead the Young Professionals (YoPros) small group together at MGMC. They have 2 sons, Judah (born 2014) and Landry (born 2016), and live at the church parsonage. She enjoys spending time with her family, trying new restaurants, and laughing with dear friends. Pastor Charis’ greatest joy in life is ministering to people and seeing God bring healing and freedom to people’s lives.

PASTOR SCOTT KOBAYASHI | MIDDLESCHOOL PASTOR & Youth Director

Pastor Scott has been the Youth Pastor at MGMC since the summer of 2013. He has been ministering in the Youth Ministry since he graduated from Hawaii Baptist Academy in 2006 and has been a part of MGMC since 2004. He has his Bachelor’s Degree in Family Resources from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He enjoys traveling the world, playing dodgeball, hiking, sports, working out, eating good food, and working on cars.

Pastor Scott’s heart is to see the youth of Hawaii and all around the world radically transformed by Jesus Christ. He wants youth to be inspired, equipped, and empowered to transform themselves, their families, their schools, and the world. He is also a small business owner and teaches the Anointed for business class at MGMC.

PASTOR MIKELA KOBAYASHI | HIGH SCHOOL PASTOR

Pastor Mikela Kobayashi has been part of our MGMC staff since 2017 and has been ministering in our youth ministry since 2011. She works alongside her husband, Scott Kobayashi, as a youth pastor and as the chief editor for MGMC’s Media Program. She has her Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology and a Minor in Hawaiian Language from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Mikela’s greatest desire is to see the youth of Hawaii live out their God given destinies and to see families thriving as God’s Ekklesia in every community. During her free time she loves to dance hula, play guitar, practice social media marketing, and go to the park or beach with her son and husband!

GLENN SHIMABUKURO | CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

Glenn started attending MGMC in the early 1970’s and became the Church Administrator in 1999. Glenn has a background in finance and accounting and has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Glenn and Sandy have been married since 2004 and have a blended family of 5 sons and 12 grandkids.

Glenn’s hobbies and interests include ministering with his wife Sandy, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren. His heartfelt prayer is that they are striving, thriving, and instilling a positive blended Christian family legacy that love one another and that their future generations will build upon this legacy.

DALE STEVENS | SECRETARY

Dale is MGMC’s “Ms. Aloha,” and is affectionately referred to as “Aunty Mary.” She and her husband Tres have been happily married since 2000 and have two adult sons Jordan and Marcus. Dale has been MGMC’s secretary since 2009 and they have attended the church since 2000. Dale and Tres live in Kaneohe and she enjoys watching sports and the Food Network, cooking and baking, and spending time with family and friends. Dale’s heart’s desire is for God to reign over her life as well as her entire ‘ohana. She longs to shine God’s Aloha to all who come into her path.

GEMEY OGATA | BOOKKEEPER

Gemey has been attending mgmc since 2000.   At the nudging of God, she left her full time position in the medical industry and in November 2005, started as the part-time Bookkeeper.   She thought it was to be an interim position as she was planning to transition into retirement, but God had other plans!  Here it is 2021 and she is still working!  

She is married to the love of her life, Alan for nearly half a century!  Their daughter, Stacie  blessed them with grandchildren, Khloie and Kynzie, who are already 13 and 11 years old! They also have two dogs, Sachiko and Mochi. 

Gemey enjoys gardening (and acquiring more plants), reading, sewing and recently started to get back into beading.  Her prayer is that her family and their future generations will have an intimate relationship with God as their Heavenly Father.  

PASTOR CAL CHINEN | Apostle

Pastor Cal grew up in Kaneohe, Hawaii.  He obtained his undergraduate degree in Social Science at Wheaton College in 1976.  He then went on to Western Conservative Baptist Seminary and received his Masters in Divinity in 1980.In August, 1980, Cal joined the MGMC staff as an Associate Pastor.  Then, in August, 1986, he began serving as Senior Pastor.Cal and his wife Joy have been married since 1977.  God graced them with three children Micah, Charis, and Daniel, who are all married and have blessed Cal and Joy with 5 grandkids.Pastor Cal is a spiritual father and mentor to the MGMC congregation but also to many other pastors across of Hawaii. He is a dynamic and transparent teacher and connects with all generations.
